I love health books and this one is one of my several go to’s. Dr Perlmutter exposes the facts that carbs are destroying your brain!  They are instigated in being the root cause of headaches, depression, dementia, anxiety and more.  He points out that the fate of our health is not necessarily in your genes.  It is in the food we eat!  Carbs as well as statin drugs can trigger inflammation.  A diet high in “good fats” is ideal and can even spur the growth of new brain cells at any age!!  Dr. Perlmutter even provides a 4 week diet plan to keep your brain healthy while reducing your risk for neurological diseases.

The How Not to Die Cookbook: 100+ Recipes to Help Prevent and Reverse Disease by Greger M.D. Michael, Gene Stone

There is SO Much info in this book. I am right along with Dr. Greger’s mission to empower people to share what to eat to prevent and reverse disease.  He shares what his daily diet looks like and discusses the Four Steps to prevent chronic disease.  1) Not smoking 2) Not being obese 3) One half hour of exercise per day 4) Eating healthier.  He is all about treating the cause which is safer and cheaper than trying to “fix” it with drugs which do not address the “root cause”.  He also is a believer that WE have the POWER over our health destiny.  For further reading on this book I  have a book review  here How Not To Die.
